Letter: Why I write
Think about the excerpt from Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird I read to you in class. Then, in a letter of no more than two pages, double-spaced, tell me why you
write. As June Jordan says, “You cannot write lies and write good
poetry.” But that is true for all writing. So be honest, tell me a bit
about what’s underneath your passion, need, desire to write. Also,
please tell me what kind of writing you aspire to write.
